Mr. Ramakant Devrukhkar, the founder of Chikittsa Wellness Group, highlighted symptoms and root causes of Slip Disc.
A slipped disc also known as a herniated disc or disc prolapsed is one of the most common conditions which can be quite distressing and painful. As per Ramakant Devrukhkar, the disc play a very important role of being the shielding and shock-absorbing pads between the bones of the spine. However, the disc do not actually ‘slip’, they are prone to getting split or ruptured. It usually occurs when the disc or its part is forced through a weakened part of the disc. It results in pressure being placed on the nearby nerves or the spinal cord.
Chikittsa Wellness Thane, one of the leading Health care companies highlights that the symptoms brought on by a slipped disk are usually noticed after a number of weeks. However, a complete surgical procedure is recommended if the symptoms are observed or they get worse. Some of the common factors leading to slipped disc include:
- Loss of elasticity and flexibility of the disc which make it protrude.
- Poor posture
- Regular use of incorrect body mechanics
- Hard physical labour or physical activity
- Improper lifting especially if done by twisting or turning
- Excessive strain
- Smoking
- Being overweight
- Sports involving weight bearing such as weightlifting
- Impulsive and vigorous trauma or injury to your back like a car accident
- Activities that involve a lot of sitting, for example- driving
Herniated disc can occur in any part of the spine. This condition is much more common in adults than children. It usually develops suddenly or may even take a few weeks or months. According to Ramakant Devrukhkar, the leading acupuncture specialist, Herniated disc is more common in lower back especially at the L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels (lumbar disc herniation). The part of the spine which is affected determines the area in which you experience pain.
It may not be possible to prevent Herniated disc, but you can keep a check on its symptoms and ensure remedial steps to reduce your risk of developing a slipped disk, to know more please visit Chikittsa Wellness website or get contact details.
